Teacher Bio Room 21

Meet Miss Curtis

I have been teaching for 16 years, two at Manawaru Primary and 15 years at Te Rapa Primary School.

In my time here, I have taught in three different syndicates. This year is my 4th in the Year ⅞ syndicate and as Head of PE, Health and Sport.

I was born and raised in a small town in the Central North Island named Taumarunui, a childhood I remember fondly. I then moved to Hamilton for University at 17, where I completed a Bachelor of Sports and Leisure and a Diploma in Teaching and have never left.

Teaching and Life

I love my job and enjoy seeing students achieve their goals, whether they are big or small. As a teacher, I enjoy seeing the different personalities the children bring to my class and how they help form our class environment each year.

Outside of teaching and school I have a passion for netball and being physically active. I enjoy bush walks and hikes as well as spending time with friends and family and exploring our beautiful country. Prior to COVID, I loved travelling the world however haven't done that lately. There is also nothing better than relaxing with a good book in the sun and taking time out for family and friends.
