Sports Camp
Each year, up to 38 senior students are chosen to be part of our elite "Combined Regions Sports Camp” squad. Our top athletes and sports people are selected for the team and they travel to Totara Springs, Matamata for a week of sporting action and camaraderie against schools from the Auckland, Waikato and Bay of Plenty areas.
There are up to 31 codes that our students are exposed to and the competition is very strong. Sports range from major codes such as football, soccer, hockey, netball to lesser well known events such as Wallball, Scram ball, caged soccer, indoor bowls, darts and indoor bowls to name a few.
One of the most popular team codes that schools present on a Thursday evening is the Cheer, which Te Rapa Primary School won in 2014, 2015 & 2019. This is a very much anticipated competition which our students always look forward to performing.
The most coveted prize that all teams strive to win is the "Sportsmanship Trophy” and "Overall Team Points Cup”. Te Rapa Primary School have placed in the top 3 with overall points in the last few years and worked very hard to become the "2019 Combined Regional Sports Camp Champions".
The "Sportsmanship Trophy” is an award that umpires, officials, Totara Springs staff and teachers from the other schools vote for the school who; plays at a very competitive level but fair, is respectful and supportive of all participants within the code and continues to be helpful towards others. This is an award that Te Rapa Primary School work very hard to win and as a result, we have won this prized trophy in 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016 & 2018.
Above is the 2022 Sports Camp Team who placed 2nd overall, winning eleven sport and being runner's up in six sports also.

The students are accompanied by teachers and parents. It is a fantastic week in which students learn a lot about working as a team, time management, playing to a high level on a regular basis and themselves.
