Kia ora koutou. Welcome to Term 4! 

Welcome back to Term 4! We have an exciting and action-packed term ahead, with plenty of learning opportunities, sporting events and special activities to look forward to. We hope everyone enjoyed a refreshing break and made the most of the spring sunshine, spending quality time with family and friends.

At regular syndicate assemblies HEART certificates are awarded.

The Term 4 Plan

Inquiry: We will be learning about living in a democracy and how it functions.

Mathematics: This term we will be learning Algebra skills and more Number strategies.

Writing: We will continue the Emma Nahna approach; strengthening the students’ understanding of planning, writing, language features and text structures.

Reading: Where possible the texts will be related to our Inquiry. Tuning in videos will be used to develop prior knowledge before reading. Learning new vocabulary is always a goal. 

Spelling: The students will continue to develop their knowledge and understanding of spelling through our school wide spelling programme.

Health and Physical Education: Athletics is the focus from week one. 

From Week 4 onwards, the five Relationships and Sexuality Education lessons will also be taught.  As a parent/caregiver you have the right to withdraw your child from a specific lesson or lessons.
Please email the principal principal@terapa.school.nz stating your child’s name, year level and state the title of the lesson or lesson(s) you want them exempt from.

ICT: The students will complete activities that develop skills using Google Docs, Slides and Sheets.

Te Rapa H.E.A.R.T: Each fortnight, a different aspect of H.E.A.R.T will be the focus. One student, from each class, will receive the class certificate at the end of each fortnight. We begin the term with Honesty and finish off with Teamwork.

Tech Arts - Thursday 

The Year 8 students continue to attend Tech this term at 8.30am on a Thursday morning and the Year  7 students around 12 o’clock. While back at school, children participate in a variety of subjects such as Music, Science, Spanish, Debating and NZ Sign Language. The Year 8 students will begin formal dancing to be ready for their Leaver’s Dinner in the final week of this term.
