Kia ora koutou and welcome to Term 1. I hope that everyone had a pleasant break. I enjoyed travelling to parts of Europe and India. At one place in Europe, it was minus twelve degrees!
Here is an outline of what we will be learning this term. The students will be improving their spoken communication skills. In reading, activating prior knowledge, asking and answering questions, and developing a reading habit are key aims. Creating strong descriptive sentences, planning and editing, are writing skills to develop. In Mathematics, the students will be learning number knowledge and strategies. The new mathematics curriculum will be taught. Our Physical Education is Aquatics; covering stroke development, fitness and water survival skills. Visual Arts activities will be linked to getting to know one another. Digital safety and citizenship are also going to be learnt.
Tech Arts will begin on Thursday, 13th February. The students receive specialised teaching in the following areas: Food - Design and Evaluation, BioTech - Body Products, Digital Imagery & Product Labelling, Hard Materials - Design Process and Visual Art. For safety reasons the students need to wear closed shoes for tech.
At regular syndicate assemblies HEART certificates are awarded.
