Welcome back to school in Term 2
Welcome back to all our families for Term 2. I have my fingers and toes crossed for a more settled term, where everyone is at school and healthy.
Thank you to all the parents who came in for interviews last term. It was great to see you for the first time this year, meeting some of you for the first time and seeing some familiar faces.
Te Rapa HEART
HEART continues to be a focus for us here at Te Rapa Primary School.
Each fortnight, a different aspect of H.E.A.R.T will be the focus. One student, from each class, will receive the class award at the end of each fortnight. We will begin the term with Honesty and finish off with Teamwork.
Wearing Masks
Staff and children in Year 7 & 8 have the option to wear masks at school in the Orange Setting.
Literacy
Writing: Students will be focusing on developing complex sentence structures and paragraphing. This will be integrated into our Science Inquiry with Information Reports and Explanations with a point of view shared.
Reading: Researching and using keywords to locate relevant information will be the focus to begin. We will continue to develop the skills of inferencing and reorganisation at the appropriate level.
Mathematics
This term the following strands will be covered: Algebra and Geometry and Measurement based on your child's need.
Maths homework will differ depending on your child's class.
Inquiry
This term our Inquiry will be based around the Science Curriculum.
The Living World: How do living things survive in an ever changing world?
We will continue to weave the Learning Assets through our daily learning, especially in Inquiry.
Physical Education and Health
The focus for Term 2 is Ball Sports. Children will experience touch rugby, hockey, softball and football for six sessions.
Those children who have been selected for Sports Camp will train in specific sports during PE time.
ICT
A range of activities to develop skills using Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Draw and Forms within our classroom programmes. All classes are using technology as a tool to assist our learning on a daily basis. We will also continue to use our eportfolios to share our learning.
Tech Arts
