Te Rapa Primary School

Welcome back to school in Term 4

Welcome back to all our families for another action packed term which started with Motutapu Camp last week. What a great start to a full on term ahead for everyone.

This term we have many events coming up including Syndicate Athletics, Year 8 Leavers Dinner, Syndicate Big Day In, Prize Giving and events to celebrate our student leaders for 2022.

HEART continues to be a focus for us here at Te Rapa Primary School.

Each fortnight, a different aspect of H.E.A.R.T will be the focus.  One student, from each class, will receive the class award at the end of each fortnight.  We will begin the term with Honesty and finish off with Teamwork.

Once back from camp, we will have a quick recap of recount writing then children will explore and write Short Stories, focusing on developing language use while doing this.  If time allows, we will also look at Poetry forms, focusing on language choices.

Reading: During the start of the term we will focus on Inferencing and Evaluation skills. When we begin writing short stories we will also incorporate this into our Reading programme, analysing short stories and looking for sophisticated plots and themes.

Inquiry - Continued from Term 3

This term our Inquiry will be based around the Arts Curriculum.

How do the Arts teach us about Culture?

We will continue to weave the Learning Assets through our daily learning, especially in Inquiry.

Physical Education and Health

The focus for Term 4 is Athletics. The first half of the term will be spent preparing the children for Athletics in Week 5. This will include training in sprints, long jump, high jump, shot putt and discus.

Once Athletics finishes and if the weather allows, we will also look to swim and have a focus on Water Safety.

A range of activities to develop skills using Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Draw and Forms within our classroom programmes. All classes are using technology as a tool to assist our learning on a daily basis. We will also continue to use our eportfolios to share our learning.

Tech Arts

Tech Arts continues this term, with the students having already started their final rotation.

Please make sure your child comes to school in covered shoes for Tech Arts. This is a health and safety requirement.
