Welcome back to another busy and exciting term in
Room 6. The term has got off to a fantastic start and the children are
so keen and eager to learn more!
This term’s focuses and highlights:
Topic: this term our topic is “Let’s Have a Party”.
This is linked to Enterprise. We are looking at different parties that
we could have and the things that we need to do before we have a party.
Linked into this topic will be money. We will be looking at ways that
we can make money or fundraise so that we can have a class party at the
end of the term.
Writing: this term we will continue to write recounts
each week with a focus on using descriptive language in the story. We
are also going to finish off writing some reports from last term and
then do some procedure writing.
Reading: our focus this term is learning to retell a
story in sequence and detail.
Maths: number will continue to be our focus this term
with children learning their basic facts and numbers up to 100.
Children are grouped according to their knowledge base.
Sport: the first half of the term will be spent
training for the X-Country which is held in week 5. In the 2nd
half of the term we will focus on developing our fundamental skills such
as hopping, skipping, jumping and leaping.
We will be making weekly visits to the Digital Media
Centre where we will be learning how to send and receive emails and
checking room 6’s daily notices, using the wikispace page the Miss
Weedon has set up for the juniors and learning to use parts of Microsoft
Powerpoint. We will also be visiting the fantastic library at Te
Rapa Primary School each week.
I look forward to another busy term ahead and hope to
see you all at some point during the term.
