Room 12 - Mr Mike McCurry
It is good to look back at things and reflect on the change and progress
over time. We often
forget very quickly what we used to do and how we were. School is like
this, too. In Term 4, we are often thinking about how well our children
have done, how much they have grown and what has changed for them and about
them and it is a good time to think back to the beginning of the year and
what were our hopes and fears. I am really pleased about the progress over
the year Not only have Room 12 learnt things throughout the year, but
they have remembered more than normal. Wahoo! We rock! Oh yeah! We rock!!
Term
3 was also our cross country term which resulted in five of our class
attending the inter-schools competition at Bremworth Park. Cody in the Year
4 boys and Deanna, Paige, Ella and Victoria (Yr3) in the Year 4 girls. They
came back with great performances, Cody finishing 4th, Deanna finishing 8th,
Paige finished 34th, Ella finished 27th and Victoria finished 19th. Well
done guys. What awesome performances!

Term
3 also saw the end of the Netball & Hockey seasons with 6 students playing
in Year 3/4
teams.
Again, we picked up some awards with Deanna receiving the award for Most
Valuable Player (Hockey), Dayna receiving the award for Most Improved
Player (Netball), Aleisha received the award for Most Improved Player
(Hockey) and Nakesha receiving the award for Most Valuable Player (Hockey).
Fantastic! Well done, guys.
The
end of Term saw Tayla deposed as the Spelling Queen to be succeeded by
Oliver as the Spelling King. He managed the whole term without any
mistakes. It is great to see the success in the class with very few
students getting less than 8/10 each week.

We also had the Disco Dilemma Production which included
Chloe, Deanna, Antonia, Alykx, Aleisha, Kayleigh, Jayde, Victoria,
Mackenzie, Amie and Tayla. Tayla took a prominent singing and acting role.
So once again we have a busy term ahead. In literacy, we will continue with
spelling as normal. Our reading for the first half of term will be
non-fiction. In writing I will continue to look at grammar and punctuation,
but we will also include some report writing to go along with the Science
focus and Recount writing for the EOTC visit.

In Maths we will continue to focus on basic facts, but also extend our
knowledge of common fractions and decimal fractions. We will also study 3D
shapes and nets.
Our
topic focus will be about flight. We will be experimenting with kites,
parachutes and helicopters.

Finally,
in sport, it is athletics season. We will have focussed activities
including ball throwing, long, jump, high jump, sprints
and
relay.
