Room 10 - Ms Lynnette Jones

Room 10’s main topic of study this term is a “Kite-Making” Technology unit.
This will be taught integrated and covering Technology, Literacy, Maths
(Measurement), Art (Painting), P.E & E.O.T.C and ICT & Visual Art. We will
be making different kinds of kites using a variety of
materials, decorating and painting our kites, flying them, taking
photographs using the digital camera and printing them out to put on display
in our room. We will be reading and writing about how to make different
kites. Students will write about their own kite flying experiences. For
Oral Language the students will be asking and writing open and closed
questions related to our ‘Kite’ unit.
Fractions, Proportions and Ratios will be covered for Maths and the
students will be working in maths ability groups across the syndicate.
Athletics (sprints & relays, long jump, high jump and ball throw) and
Aquatics/Swimming will be covered for P.E. & Health. The students will
learn Nga ra o te wiki (the days of the week) and Nga Tae (colours) in the
appropriate contexts within the learning environment at school. For Music
we will be focusing on singing Christmas Carols and learning how to project
our voices clearly.
A Year 3/4 Syndicate GATE Maths group will do a Fractions,
Proportions and Ratios extension unit. The GATE Technology group will do BP
type Technology Challenges.
Life Education and Kelly Sports teachers will utilise programmes based
around a chosen theme and Athletic events.
