Welcome to Room 20 for 2018

Please checkout the learning outline below for Term 1:

Reading - guided focus - making connections and asking questions with a focus on Identity our inquiry for the term.

Writing - grammar, punctuation, spelling, vocab development, sentence structure.  Writing tasks such as poetry and personal recounts will be  linked to identity.

Maori - Mihi, greetings, idioms and instructions.

Mathematics - Number and Algebra  and Geometry (Room 20 Maths Class)

ICT - Developing Google Docs skills, touch typing and E-portfolios.


We are excited about presenting our learning using E-portfolios this year which will enable the students to share their learning on a regular basis with their parents and caregivers.  Parents and caregivers will also be able to give feedback and encouraging comments.


Inquiry - Big Idea -Identity - How I see myself and others. We be discovering a deeper understanding of the concept of identity ourselves and others.

Health and P.E. - Kiwi Swim Safe Swimming Programme.

Arts - Visual Art - Identity.

Technicraft- Science, Visual Art, Soft Materials, Technology. Technicraft begins on Thursday February 15th and we have 8 sessions this term.


Y7/8 Syndicate Rotation: Each Monday (beginning Week 3) students attend a 60 min rotation with Y7/8 Syndicate teachers. Students will complete a unit of learning over the course of the year in the following subjects:

Music/Dance with Mrs Conder    ICT with Mrs McKay    Drama with Mrs Allen   Technology and Design with Mr Marsh  Introduction to Chinese with Mr Su’a


We will have swimming lessons every day using the NZ Swim Safe Programme. Swimming is compulsory so if your child cannot swim on a particular day, a note written by an adult is required.  We swim everyday and at 9.10am every day except on a Thursday when we swim at 9.40am.
