Researching and using keywords to locate relevant information will be the initial focus. The skills of inference and reorganisation will also be covered during the term.

Through the curriculum area of Science and Health/Physical Education, our topic will be: ”Wellbeing”. Activities to develop skills using Google Docs, Slides, Sheets, Forms and a range of apps to enhance learning within our classroom programmes. E-portfolios will continue to be developed showing a snapshot of the students learning and reflections.                                                                                                                                    Te Rapa H.E.A.R.T :

Each fortnight a different aspect of H.E.A.R.T will be the focus with one student from each class receiving the class award at the end of each fortnight. We begin the term with Honesty and finish the term with Teamwork.

Sexuality Education lessons

A letter was sent home on the 9th April with an overview of each lesson for the Sexuality Education lessons starting in Week 3 of Term 2.  If you did not receive a copy and would like one please contact your child’s teacher and request a copy.

As a parent/caregiver you have the right to withdraw your child from a specific lesson or lessons.   Please email the principal - principal@terapa.school.nz stating your child’s name, year level and what lesson or lesson(s) you want them exempt from.

If you are choosing to withdraw your child/children from a lesson this will need to be emailed by Monday 6th May, 3 pm to allow time for this to be communicated with the teacher taking the lessons.

Cross Country

The school cross country is being held on Friday 31st of May (Week 5, Term 2).  We will be training on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday therefore students need to ensure that they are prepared.  They will need to be dressed in clothing that is comfortable to run in and running shoes if they prefer/or need to train with shoes.

Technicraft is each Thursday (unless advised) and is broken into two groups. In Term 2, Room’s 18, 20 & 21 will be the second group, leaving school at approximately 11:45am. Please make sure your child comes to school in covered shoes for technicraft due to health and safety regulations. Students travel by bus to Hamilton Junior High School for classes and return by 3pm.

If your child is absent on a technicraft day, please ring into the school office before 8:30am.

Please remind your child to use sunscreen everyday before school and to bring a sunhat to school. We have extra sunscreen here at school to top up with during the day. Students are also encouraged to have a water bottle in class for hydration.

The senior school offers students many opportunities to exercise leadership skills in a range of activities. This is your child’s opportunity to extend themselves and prepare for high school. Please encourage them to discuss with you the types of goals they have as a senior student and what they would like to achieve. Students need to remember to listen out for notices and to step forward when various opportunities are offered.
